Bula~bula~bula~bula. Bula~bula~bula~bula. Bula~bula~bula~bula.
Kidd glared at the burbling Den-den for a half second before yanking the receiver to his lips with a light snarl. Whoever had interrupted his nap had better have something important to say, and this had better not be another call from Eddie about how Batchan had someone mistake him for a stripper. That had happened entirely too many times for the captain's liking.
"What do you want?" He sneered rather angrily, and was answered with a light, amused chuckle.
"Is that the way you always answer the den-den, Mister Eustass?"
Kidd's features relaxed from a snarl into a grin at the sound of the lazy drawl, and he leaned back in his chair to prop his feet on his desk. That one voice in particular had always managed to soothe his raw nerves.
"And what if it is?" He shot back humorously, and was awarded with an amused snort for his efforts.
"I'd say you need to work on your technique, Mister Eustass. But that's not what I called about."
Trafalgar Law definitely had Kidd's attention now.
"My crew is going to be ashore for the next three days, and I was wondering if you would like to come keep a fellow supernova from being bored out of his mind."
Kidd schooled his expression, but not before a blush dusted across his cheekbones. He wasn't sure what had prompted this, but he sure as hell wasn't about to let an opportunity pass him by. He saw far too little of the other captain as it was. He put on an air of disbelief.
"You're inviting me over to keep you from being bored?" He asked, and the other man chuckled again, and Kidd thought it sounded a bit more nervous than last time.
"I'll even cook..."
Kidd's blush intensified as his mind conjured, for his viewing pleasure, the image of Law in a cook's apron and nothing else.
"Uh...Yea..sure I guess...I'll...ah...be over later today, then." Kidd said once he regained control of his vocal cords (and wayward brain). He dragged his hand down his face, pulling at his lip in consternation on the way.
Way to go, Kidd. That was smooth.
"I'll be here." The voice that responded was soft, and Kidd noticed that the den-den was blushing.
Wait. If the den-den was blushing, did that mean Law was? These things could mimic that?
That meant....
Oh hell.
And then the redheaded captain of the Kidd pirates realized he didn't know something about Law that could make or break this night.
Could the doctor even cook?
~*~
Trafalgar Law grinned as he heard Kidd shuffling around in the dining room that connected to the galley. He was pleased that the other man had accepted his invitation, even if he HAD had to sweeten the pot with the offer of food. Speaking of which..
Law stared down at the pan he was working with in concentration. He had been taught how to cook a back before he left North Blue, but it had been years since he had deigned to do so. Why cook when you HAD a cook on your crew?
But no matter. He moved the pan to a different burner, and glided over to the kitchen door while wiping his hands on a towel. He smiled at the redhead, who was shifting his weight from one foot to another. It was a nervous habit that no one knew the man had. Well, except for the doctor, of course.
Law coughed lightly, and Kidd stopped fidgeting, acting like a child who had it's hand stuck in the cookie jar. He took a moment to admire the redhead, eyes flickering over the strong line of his jaw and the way his muscles flexed and stretched as he moved. He wore confidence like it was a second skin, and very few people had the chance to see him with his guard down the way that Law did.
"The food is ready, Mister Eustass." He said, and the redhead grabbed his plate and followed him into the kitchen.
Law enjoyed the look on Kidd's face as the other man ladled the pasta onto his plate, followed by the various meats and vegetables.
"This looks really good." He said, and there was a faint tone of awe in his voice that made Law preen just a little.
Kidd ate quickly and appreciatively. He hadn't expected the doctor to be this good of a cook. He leaned back in his chair, full and content.
"That was delicious." He said, and the dark haired man smiled as he picked up the plates.
"I'm glad you think so." He responded, and Kidd watched him appreciatively as he moved to the sink.
Law always moved gracefully, and the tight pants he wore emphasized this in the same way that his hoodie clung to his hips, wrapping around his torso in a way that left little to the imagination.
Kidd watched quietly as Law's tattoed hands dipped into the soapy water with a little splash to wash the dishes from dinner. The doctor hummed, and swayed his hips every time he reached for a new plate.
The redhead stood and moved to stand behind the other man, his arms wrapping around the doctor's waist and chest while he buried his nose into the hair behind Law's ear. The doctor stiffened slightly, then relaxed into the touch, leaning back against Kidd's chest.
"The dishes can wait." Kidd purred into the doctor's ear, and gave the soft lobe a little flick with his tongue for emphasis. Plates clattered from Law's hand into the sink as the thin man let out a sound somewhere between a moan and a growl.
Kidd separated from the other man long enough to flip him around, and pressed his lips into Law's urgently. Law pulled back slightly, his face flushed, and a grin was making it's way across his face.
"You've got me for the next three days, you know."
"It's been too long."
Law considered this, then wrapped his arms around the redhead's neck.
"You're right."

Three days later...
~*~
Kidd pulled his coat over his shoulder reluctantly, looking over at the sleeping figure on the bed next to him with a sigh. Three days, three fucking days was all he got, but he knew he would see the other again.
He stood and leaned over the sleeping man, drinking in the sight he knew he wouldn't see for a few more months at the least, and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead before turning to leave.
He stopped at the doorway though, and glanced back one last time.
"I love you."
It was soft, whispered so quietly that had Law not been listening for it, he would have missed it.
The door closed, and the sound of boots walking away faded. Law slowly rolled over to lie on his back, and touched his forehead with his fingers, then brought his fingers to his lips.
"I love you too, idiot."
Kidd glared at the burbling Den-den for a half second before yanking the receiver to his lips with a light snarl. Ace, Luffy, and the target
Luffy stood there wondering what Ace was doing. Ace smiled to himself as he stepped back and admired his work. Luffy looked at him curiously. "What is it, Ace?"
Ace pointed to the target he had painted on a tree. "It's target practice."
"For what?" questioned Luffy.
Ace sighed, Luffy could be so dense. "Since now you have devil fruit powers, you need to practice. You're going to stand about 15ft away then try to hit the target."
This was all Luffy had heard; Ace was still explaining when something hit him square on the face sending him sprawling across the forest floor. Luffy didn't even notice that he had hit his older brother. "Whoops
